Your phone rings, the doctor says 'I'm sorry to tell you this' and then your life changes forever.
In August 2008, Mike and Jennifer Stults lives did change when their two sons Brison age 5, and Parker age 4, were diagnosed with Niemann Pick Type C. A rare and fatal disease.
I have had the privileged of calling Mike Stults my friend for a few years now. I want to raise money to help fund research that will find a treatment and cure for this disease.
Niemann-Pick Type C Disease simply put is FATAL. It is a genetic, neurodegenerative disorder that consequently accumulates large amounts of cholesterol and other excess fats in the cells of the liver, spleen, and brain causing progressive deterioration of the nervous system. It usually starts to affect children of school age (4-7 years old) by interfering with their ability to metabolize cholesterol.
The average age of diagnosis for NPC1 disease was 10.4 years, with one-half of patients being diagnosed before the age of 6.9 years. The average age of death for NPC1 disease was 16.2 years, with one-half of patients dying before the age of 12.5 years.
THIS IS WHY THIS RARE DISEASE NEEDS OUR HELP!
Please feel free to add anything to the dares!
