I’m happily taking on this dare to help Patrick and all the homeless pets at the Associated Humane Society in Tinton Falls, where I currently volunteer-- and where Patrick will be going when he is feeling better and leaves Garden State Vet Hospital -- if he's not adopted first.
Patrick "the miracle dog" is an incredible little pit bull that survived extreme starvation, abuse and 19 flights when his owner Kisha Curtis, of Newark NJ, tossed this emaciated pup down a garbage chute. Amazingly, Patrick survived and with his tail wagging, is very slowly making his way toward recovery.
The nationwide wave of concern and conversation that has risen in Patrick’s wake is nothing short of spectacular. Empathetic people everywhere are talking about Patrick and his plight, demanding tougher laws against abusers and more help for animals waiting to be adopted.
Once Patrick is out of critical care he will go to Associated Humane Societies in New Jersey. There, under the loving and knowledgeable care of the staff, and the devoted volunteers from the Little Silver Animal Hospital Foundation (who I volunteer with), Patrick will be socialized, trained and prepared to find his forever home.
Most of all, though, he will receive the love and care his former owner denied him for so long!
